My front springs finally arrived despite UPS trying their best to sabotage my plans.

Last week we replaced the spring towers and shocks and here’s where things were left.

Kinja'd!!!

Now for the spring removal. Easy. Unbolt the shock droop the axle and cut the old spring out.

Thusly.

Kinja'd!!!

Now grab all of the Penetrating Oil, a 1-1/8" socket and a long persuader for the end of the ratchet. Start to pulling!

Kinja'd!!!

Slip the new spring in place and bolt it down.

Grab a Victory beer because it only took an hour and a half start to finish.

End product should resemble this.

Kinja'd!!!

And the pile of dead parts will resemble this.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m no big city mechanic but I can say with some certitude that there was a safety issue right there!

Kinja'd!!!

Next up is installing this here newfangled Bluetooth song box and a transmission service!

I like pioneer stereo stuff. Have a mix of that and blaupunkt in the Twingo. Whole set up barely cost over £130 and sounds amazing.

I’m still disappointed you didn’t upgrade to the factory dual-shock setup.

Transmission service, huh? What all is that going to include?

Too much money. These shock towers were $98 for the pair. Those Quads are insane.

Drain the converter, drop the pan change the filter and fluid. Nothing too fancy. If it were an AODE I’d bump the line pressure a bit but I don’t have that luxury with this one.

I’ve been Pioneer or Kenwood for a long time. If this kit weren’t on closeout I’d have gone Kenwood.

Sure am glad you said drain converter . I hate it when that step gets skipped.

Same here. Tere’s no point if you don’t change it all.

If it’s any consolation these springs did lift the nose almost 2".
